I understand where you’re coming frombut that’s the problem. That’s wayyyy to much effort for something that at least on first listen should deliver some sort of top level meaning and have impact. At times his delivery gets “Young Thug mumbled” (No disrespect to Wale).

Trust, I’m one of the dudes who enjoys decoding lyrics. And I think Wale is a good artist from day one. But his delivery lately comes across as intentionally convoluted at times. Just sometimesDeep and powerful doesn’t have to mean complex. Take Kendrick for instance.
I could guarantee you a MAJOR reason why he is as successful is because his lyrics and delivery is simply more immediately digestible. His cadence and clarity of his words hit harder because of it. To me thats what wale misses allot of the time. You funny guys say “boring” but will big ups and dick suck an ab soul or a Joey badass for days. This guy put in a body of work that pushes him out of the tier 2 category into the first.

Idk what yall heard but I heard the best work a GOOD rapper has ever put forth. And the whole (hating wale because it’s funny) thing is so fucking played out and corny I wanna get everybodys IP adress and come smack you all individually. There was NOTHING wrong with this album. And on top of that it’s more likeable than kendricks.
